RLM Open Usage™
Users of enterprise-class software
want to know how that software is being used. They want detailed
reports showing max concurrent usage, average usage, overdraft
usage, etc. With RLM Open Usage™,
the license usage information is written into log files according to
RLM's various published formats. ISVs,
3rd party vendors, and end users themselves can directly access
this information to build powerful tools to help them better manage their
license inventory and compliance.
Pay-Per-Use pricing models
ISVs and their users rely on the
RLM report logs for post-use billing and pay-per-use licensing
models. With this approach, ISVs collect data from their users to
determine what fees should be paid based on the customer's actual
license usage. RLM ensures that the report log has not been
tampered with by injecting "authentication records" into the report
log at various times that can be examined to see if the report log
is intact. Also, RLM can remove private username and hostname
information from the raw log files before they are shared with
vendors. RLM will also automatically rotate the report logs
daily, weekly, monthly, or whenever you specify.
Application Data Logging
Have you ever wondered which parts
of your software applications get used the most? the least?
With RLM, you can write detailed application specific information
into the report logs to help you gather application intelligence
about how users use application software, right down to the subroutine
level.
Multiple Formats
To optimize performance and
minimize disk space requirements, users can setup RLM to produce
reportlogs that contain just the information detail that they need.
There are three supported formats: std, small, and
detailed. To learn more about the RLM report log formats, please
read the
RLM End Users Manual.
