Usage Reporting extends node-locked and floating license models by enabling post-use billing, including time-based licenses,
total number of users or computers during a billing period, or simply by allowing your customer to use more than a fixed number of floating licenses to meet
project deadlines. Your customers provide you with report logs that are used to generate invoices. Rather than denying usage when your customers exceed
usage limits, wouldn't it be better to let them to use what they need and pay the difference at the end of the month?
The capability to utilize report writing for you and your customers is available as an optional add-on to RLM. This
allows you to perform reporting on your customers' data as well as to supply report writers to your customers.

Build efficient software pricing models by understanding how your software is used. Analysis tools help you and your customers agree on how many
licenses are needed and at what price levels. Your biggest and most valuable customers will expect you to offer this service.
|
Deploy non-traditional pricing models that are based on work done, not head count. Concurrent user-based pricing is sometimes too inexact,
but metrics that reflect actual usage (e.g. # of pages processed, # of words translated, # of circuits analyzed, etc.) can
improve pricing efficiency.
|
Offer your standard off-the-shelf products for use in the cloud. Set up license servers on your site to minimize deployment obstacles.
Create accurate usage information to bill cloud customers.
|
Allow your customers to preserve the identity of individuals and computers that use your
software. RLM ships with a report log anonomyzer so that your customer doesn't have to worry about
privacy concerns. |
Use reporting to track product feature usage during beta periods or in production. Understand where you need to put your development effort.
|
Collect extra revenue from overdraft licenses during peak periods. Customers don't want to pay full price for seldom used licenses - so allow them
to temporarily use more licenses at a fair price. You will expand overall usage, and increase customer satisfaction.
|
In a pay-per-use licensing arrangement your customer must monitor usage during the billing cycle to ensure that costs are aligned with budgets.
By shipping the report writer, your customers can track their usage against a budget, and make informed license allocation decisions.
It's a win-win.
