Cloud-Based License Servers for RLM
RLMCloud is an easy-to-use, cloud-based solution for hosting your customer's RLM license servers. RLMCloud is 100% hosted by Reprise. It allows you to provision and manage customers' license servers, and install and manage their licenses, all from your browser without installing license server software on your customer's systems.
RLMCloud provides everything you need to issue licenses and serve them for your customers. Your customer never needs to install or manage a license server when you use RLMCloud. They install your application, add the licenses, and are ready to run. And unlike other License Managers, you can do all of this without changing the RLM API calls that are already in your application.
RLMCloud is 100% compatible with your RLM-licensed application. No new API to integrate.
Deploy to your customers in the cloud - mix and match as the situation dictates.
There is never a need to re-provision a license server.
No server setup for your customer, immediate up-time.
Suspend licenses for non-payment or lapsed subscriptions.
With RLMCloud, your customer's usage logs are on your servers.
Compatible with your application
100% compatible with your RLM-licensed application.
RLMCloud uses standard RLM license servers, so you have already integrated everything you need to start using RLMCloud. Re-link your application with RLM v12.0 or later, and you are ready to go. Unlike other license managers, there is no separate API to use the RLM Cloud.
In the Cloud or On-Premises
Deploy in the cloud or on-premesis.
Since RLMCloud uses standard RLM license servers, you can make the decision to deploy license servers to your customers in the RLMCloud or on-premesis. Make this choice on a customer-by-customer basis. Or do all your evaluations using RLMCLoud-based license servers and deploy all products on-premesis, or any combination - whatever makes most business sense for you and your customers.
When we say "Policy in the License", we mean it. The only change you make to use RLMCloud is in the license file, where you use a CUSTOMER line in place of SERVER and HOST lines from an on-premesis license file.
No more Rehosting and Decommissioning Servers
There is never a need to rehost a customer server with RLMCloud
Since you are in complete control of the license servers, all the old issues arising from machine hostids are now a thing of the past. You no longer need to worry about issuing a new set of licenses to a customer because their license server machine went down.
Increase Customer Satisfaction
No Server Setup or Maintenance
Your customers no longer need to configure and manage license servers - this is all done in the RLM Cloud for them. In addition, they don't need to upgrade license servers or install licenses. Once you sell them a new license and provision it in the RLM Cloud, they are ready to use it.
Disable Licenses in the Field
Maintain control of licensing
If your customer cancels their subscription or simply doesn't pay, you can disable the licenses already issued to them, since you are in control of their license server.
Monitor Customer License Activity
RLMCloud maintains a complete license history
Use the database of licenses to report on progress of evaluations. Monitor trials, reactivations and licenses. For subscription-type licenses, see the last time the application checked back with the activation server. And you always have a complete history of all customers' licenses available.
Seamless License Upgrades
You are in control.
Simplify license upgrades/downgrades because you are in control of the license files for your customers. No more worries about bad installation of license files - RLMCloud keeps them up-to-date and in the right place automatically.
License Logs Under Your Control
Since the RLMCloud servers are under your control, you always have access to your customer's log files. Use these to implement a pay-per-use model without worry about missing log files or missing segments of log files.
Your Customers have access to their servers.
RLMCloud includes a customer portal so that your customers have visibility into their license servers. A subset of the functionality in the built-in on-premesis RLM web interface, this portal allows your customers to view current license server status as well as users of licenses, view and download server log files, and edit license server options.
How RLMCloud Works
- Setup: define the types of licenses to be delivered to your customers, typically trial, permanent node-locked, and permanent floating. (If you are familiar with RLM Activation Pro, this setup process is nearly identical.)
- Upon purchase, add the customer to your RLMCloud database, and provision a license server for them.
- Create the licenses your customer purchased.
- Push the licenses to the server machine in the RLM Cloud and tell the server to reread the licenses. The server is now ready for your customer to use.
- Using the RLMCloud dashboard, you can see the status of all your customer's servers in one place.
